Who the bumper kit is for
The front bumper takes more hits than any other panel on a car. Whatever the vehicle in front kicks up lands there first, and on Michigan roads that means gravel, sand and salt for months at a time.
The bumper kit puts XPEL paint protection film on the bumper only. It suits a driver who wants to stop the worst of the chipping without covering the whole front end, a leased car that has to go back without a chewed-up bumper, or a newer car you want to protect where the damage starts. The film is clear, so your paint colour shows through, and it has hydrophobic properties, so water and dirt run off.
The limit is in the name: only the bumper is covered. The hood edge, headlights, fenders and mirrors can still chip. And film is protection, not armour. It stops rock chips and light scratches, but a deep gouge or a hard impact can still cut through it.
How it compares
The Partial Kit adds the headlights, the first third of the hood, a third of the front two fenders and the fronts of the side mirrors. That covers the band across the front of the car where most chips land.
The Full Front Kit covers the entire hood, the full fenders with wrapped edges, the bumper, the side mirrors and the headlights, so there is no film edge across the middle of the hood. The Full Car package covers every painted panel you choose.
XPEL backs its Ultimate Plus film with its own 10-year manufacturer warranty, and the terms are XPEL’s. Ask us which XPEL film is on your quote. If you also want easier washing on the rest of the car, add a FeynLab ceramic coating; a coating can go over the film too. See all our paint protection film packages.
Bumper kit questions
Can you see the film on the bumper?
The film is clear and made to be close to invisible once fitted. If you look closely at the edges, you may be able to see where it ends.
Is a bumper kit enough protection?
If the bumper is your main worry, yes. If you drive a lot of highway miles, chips also land on the hood and headlights, and the Partial Kit or Full Front Kit covers more of that.
Does the film protect against road salt?
Yes, on the covered area. The package lists protection from rock chips, road salt and dirt. Panels outside the film are not covered, so washing, or a coating, still matters for the rest of the car.
